'The Baby Factory Is Closed' - Premiering and competing at SXSW [Northern Ireland Screen]

A radical new virtual reality experience that reclaims the menopause as a site of rebellion, ‘The Baby Factory Is Closed’ will have its world premiere at SXSW 2026 in Austin, Texas. The work has been officially selected for the festival’s prestigious ‘XR Experience Competition.’
A creative-technological collaboration between Neon and Aura Digital Studios, ‘The Baby Factory Is Closed’ was made with the support of Immersive Arts UK, Future Screens NI, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland Screen and Digital Catapult NI. The experience is presented as part of the Future Art and Culture programme at SXSW, produced by British Underground and Arts Council England, with partnership support from the British Council. It has also received a British Council Large VR Travel Grant.
