The Girl Who Found Her Smile
Dr. Adekemi Adeniyan
'The Girl Who Found Her Smile' is a VR interactive experience based on Dr. Adekemi Adeniyan's original children's storybook of the same name. The story follows a girl called Anita who wakes up on the morning of her school photo, only to discover that her tooth has turned green and she cannot smile. We follow Anita's journey as she discovers the dentist and learns about oral hygiene.
The brief was to expand the world and story of Dr. Adeniyan's original book into a fun, engaging and interactive VR experience to educate young people about the importance of oral hygiene. We then localised the experience into French and Spanish so the experience could be viewed by a wider audience. 'The Girl Who Found Her Smile' also offers a hijab option in the settings.
The VR experience was developed through the Atlantic Fellowship in Oxford as part of an initiative towards health equity in rural areas of Nigeria.
The Ekiti State Ministry of Innovation in Nigeria partnered with Dr. Adeniyan for a special showcase of 'The Girl Who Found Her Smile' on Children’s Day, May 27. Hosting over 160 children at their inaugural Healthy Futures event.
